1. PRETTY IN PINK
We loved Molly Ringwald in this Cult Classic! This stunner proved you don’t need a man to rock up to prom looking gorge just grab your gal pals! We all secretly wish we had a goofy bff like Duckie to take our arm anyway.
2. FOOTLOOSE
EVERYBODY CUT FOOTLOOSE! We wish everyone danced like this at proms. That song combined with those smooth moves were the perfect combo for the ultimate prom scene. Both versions are great but c’mon now guys, the original is THE ORIGINAL. Werk it Kevin!
3. BACK TO THE FUTURE
Another huge scene with an iconic tune. Jonny B. Goode makes us all want to knee-slide across the room, air guitar at the ready. Of course, we can’t ignore those stunning 50’s dresses! Puuuuurfect for prom.
4. NAPOLEON DYNAMITE
#VoteforPedro!!! There are so many classic scenes in this film, from THAT DANCE to Napoleon’s…ummm.. interesting… drawing of the popular girl as a prom invite. Today, we’re saluting the King of Odd for his determined gallop to prom. Thank the stars he got there in time for this beautifully awkward two step with Deb. “I like your sleeves. They’re real big”- smooth.
5. CARRIE
Moving to a more sombre note… Carrie is next on our list. No one can forget that horrific, yet gloriously iconic, scene. We don’t even need to tell you which one. Maaaan did they regret doing that!
6. MEAN GIRLS
Let’s be honest, you know every line in this film. You love October 3rd, Glen Coco and all FOUR of his candy canes and of course Cady’s prom speech and Damian’s reaction when she snaps the crown. Whether its prom and high school classics, Halloween or Christmas, this film just WINS everytime!
7. NEVER BEEN KISSED
Sooooo let’s just say that prom wasn’t exactly great for Joise the first time… Prom Take 2- she gets to dance with the guy (even though she was technically his student), wins prom queen and sticks up for the geeks! High School isn’t everything boys and girls.
8. SHE’S ALL THAT
Laney is an artsy hipster-babe who finds herself and shows a few guys who’s boss along the way. This ‘My Fair Lady’ style film has an amazing prom section, if not because of how hot she looks then because of that dance scene Usher makes them do- Yeah. Yep, that right… Usher’s in it!
9. 10 THINGS I HATE ABOUT YOU
She was stubborn and he was an idiot but DAYUUMM, he really knew how to win a girl over!! Heath Ledger stole all of our hearts in this film. Kat’s little sister Bianca also won us over with that perfect alternative to a prom dress. Crop and Maxi? sooo Motel, gawj!
10. GREECE
Well obviously we couldn’t complete this list without the most iconic of all dance films could we? Yes, it’s technically a dance instead of a prom but it still counts… why? because we said so! This lot were definitely Born to Hand-Jive.
